ABA YLD News & Notes!
By:  Jay Forester, North/West Texas ABA Rep (District 26)

As the first quarter of 2018 winds down, we wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to all of our local affiliates and leaders. Remember, all licensed Texas lawyers 36 years old or younger or in their first five years of practice, regardless of age, are automatically members of TYLA. We thank you for your support, service to your community, and, frankly, making us look good.

Each quarter, we have the opportunity to highlight the work of three affiliates nationally. The local affiliates of the month for the last quarter were:

From District 25 (covering South/Central Texas)

 - TYLA
 - San Antonio Young Lawyers Association
 - Houston Young Lawyers Association

District 26 (covering North/West Texas)

 - Dallas Association of Young Lawyers
 - Amarillo Area Young Lawyers Association
 - Lubbock County Young Lawyers Association

Additionally, an article submitted by Jonathan Zendeh Del of Galveston, Texas and galvestonjustice.com, Three Reasons Why Lunch is the Most Important Meal of the Day, was selected to be featured in the ABA’s “The Affiliate” as part of our ongoing effort to encourage young lawyers to care for and be attentive to their mental health. Note, ABA local affiliate reports are due April 1 and we want to highlight the continued and great work you and your local bar affiliates do. Please submit your reports and any articles you’d like to be considered to be featured here or in “The Affiliate” to us by April 1 to:

Jay Forester, (District 26, North/West Texas), jay@foresterhaynie.com

Finally, we want to see you! The next ABA conference is the second weekend of May in Louisville, KY. Registration is OPEN NOW and you can find out more info here.

Jay Forester is a wage and class action lawyer based in Dallas. He is the TYLA/ABA YLD District 26 representative, representing North and West Texas. He can be reached at jay@foresterhaynie.com or foresterhaynie.com
