TYLA, ABA YLD Welcome John Ellis as New District 25 Representative
By: Victor A. Flores

We have some great news to share: John Ellis, an attorney with Scott Douglass & McConnico, LLP in Austin, has been elected as the new American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division representative for District 25.

John will serve as the liaison between the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and the 17 young lawyer affiliate organizations across South and Central Texas.  He has served on the TYLA Board of Directors since 2014, where he has helped create and implement a wide variety of service projects benefitting the legal profession and general public.

John represents a wide range of Fortune 500 companies, regional businesses, and individuals in complex commercial litigation disputes.  He has extensive experience in the medical device/pharmaceutical, financial services, and oil, gas, and natural resources sectors and regularly represents clients in mass tort multi-district litigation, putative class actions, and individual actions in state and federal courts and arbitration proceedings across the country.

Prior to joining Scott Douglass & McConnico, John worked at an international law firm in Austin and served as a briefing attorney/law clerk to Justice Paul W. Green of the Supreme Court of Texas.  He is an Eagle Scout.  Since 2016, John has been selected as a Rising Star for Business Litigation by Super Lawyers publication.

He obtained his J.D. and MBA degrees with high honors from Texas Tech University where he served as editor in chief of the Texas Tech Law Review. John obtained his B.A. with high honors from the University of Southern California, where he was elected by faculty and students as “Mr. USC”—an award given to the most outstanding male student-leader of each graduating class.

Both John and his wife, Bethany, grew up in Brownwood, Texas.  They are proud parents of two young boys, Brooks (age 3) and Hudson (age 1), and active members of Austin Ridge Bible Church. In his spare time, John enjoys spending time with his family, following USC football, distance running, and working outdoors on his family’s ranch in a rural part of Central Texas.
