TYLA Diversity Scholarship Winners
By:  Sara Anne Giddings, San Angelo

TYLA is excited to announce the winners of its annual Diversity Scholarship.  TYLA’s diversity scholarship honors those that demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. TYLA received forty-five excellent scholarship applications from all law schools in the State of Texas.   The scholarship committee was impressed by all of the applications and the committee had a difficult decision in determining the scholarship winners.  First place, along with a $5,000 scholarship, was awarded to Natalie Harrison, a 1L at University of Texas School of Law.  Second place, along with a $3,000 scholarship, was awarded to Lorena Zapata, a 2L at University of Houston Law Center.  Third place, along with a $1,500 scholarship, was awarded to Brandon Hawkins, a 3L at Thurgood Marshall School of Law.

The Committee and TYLA would like to thank everyone for applying for the Diversity Scholarship.  We would encourage all law students to join the State Bar of Texas Law Student Division and to participate in future scholarship and essay contests.
