Office in a Flash

Are you considering opening your own law practice? The Texas Young Lawyers Association recognized that an increasing number of young lawyers are choosing to open their own law firm straight out of law school or within the first few years of their practice. These lawyers are quickly forced to make a number of decisions such as whether they should form a partnership, where should they rent office space and what type of billing method and rate should they use -- while at the same time learning to practice law and creating business. To assist these young lawyers in many of the decisions they face, TYLA has created a new project: Office in a Flash.

Office in a Flash provides young lawyers with information on various topics relevant to establishing a law practice -- all on a flash drive. Topics covered include creating a business plan, setting up an office, choosing the right technology, opening a trust account, obtaining initial sources of revenue and managing revenue. In addition, the flash drive features several short videos from the Ten Minute Mentor series which relate to starting a law firm and sample documents. One hour of free CLE is also included with the flash drive! While the information on each topic and the forms can be printed, the flash drive was designed for young lawyers who are increasingly moving towards a paperless office. Now young lawyers can access tips and tricks of the trade of setting up a law practice all on a flash drive.
