ABA YLD Update

The American Bar Association descended on Houston in full force this month for the ABA Midyear Meeting.  ABA Young Lawyers Division members participated in a number of CLEs and the Assembly, which is the principal policy-making body of the ABA YLD.  ABA YLD also reached out to Houston community members through its Project Street Youth.  On Feb. 6, 2015, attorneys from all over the country met with homeless and transitional youth at Covenant House in Houston.  Texas attorneys (including a number of TYLA members) provided free consultations regarding a number of issues including public assistance, government benefits, criminal matters, and credit and consumer matters.  Project Street Youth is a phenomenal project, if you are interested in bringing it to your community, please visit the project website for more information.

Registration is now open for the YLD Spring Conference, which will be Tampa, Florida, May 14-16, 2015.  You can register for the conference here.

YLD members should take advantage of the following free webinars.

Moving Forward After a Job Loss
March 13 @ 1 p.m. ET – Part of the ABA Free Career Advice Series

The Fundamentals of Counterterrorism Law
March 16 – Part of the ABA Free CLE Series

The YLD is always looking for new leaders.  If you would like more information about getting involved, please contact Travis Patterson.
