Defense Research Institute
By:  Janelle L. Davis

The Defense Research Institute (DRI) is the leading organization of defense attorneys and in-house counsel. With over 20,000 members and 29 substantive committees, DRI provides numerous opportunities for lawyers to learn, give back to the legal profession, and network.

Each year the Drug and Medical Device Committee holds an annual seminar that provides excellent programming and fellowship with other like-minded defense practitioners. Join DRI for the annual Drug and Medical Device Seminar in New Orleans!

This year’s seminar is on May 11-12 at the Sheraton New Orleans. The seminar is attended by several hundred professionals practicing in the drug and medical device area and provides a great opportunity to expand your network.

In addition to several networking events throughout the seminar and a community volunteer activity on Friday afternoon, the seminar will feature top-notch CLE from outside counsel, in house counsel, and members of the judiciary. Panels will cover the following topics and many more:

·         Litigation Tourists and Multi-Plaintiff Cases in All the Wrong Places

·         Proportionality Under the Federal Rules: A Strategic Approach

·         Staffing the Mass Tort and Jury Trial Team: Stereotypes and Ethical Considerations

·         Strategic Approaches to Dealing with Trends in Discovery and Trial
